Police have surrounded a hotel in Sale where a man has climbed onto the roof

Police are dealing with a man on the roof of a hotel in Sale.

Officers were called to the incident on Washway Road on Saturday evening.

GMP say there are concerns for the man's welfare. The incident is still ongoing.

He is understood to be on the roof of the Amblehurst Hotel on Washway Road.

Washway Road is closed in both directions between Marsland Road and Sibson Road.

A statement posted by Greater Manchester Police on Twitter said: "Officers are currently responding to an ongoing incident on Washway Road in #Sale.

"Officers were called to reports of the concern for welfare of a man on a roof. Officers are on the scene."

The Manchester Evening News has contacted the Amblehurst Hotel for a response.
