Police have closed the road around Liverpool Passport Office

Police have cordoned off the area around Liverpool Passport Office and closed a city centre road this afternoon.

Officers were called to Brook Street, just off Old Hall Street , at around 6pm after reports that a building sign had come loose.

The large rectangular sign placed at the top of 101 Old Hall Street was reportedly seen moving as wind blew down the street.

A cordon was put in place at the junction of the road as two police cars parked to stop traffic travelling towards the slip road that leads onto King Edward Street.

It is not yet known how long the road closure will remain in place for but it is believed that the sign will be secured at some point throughout the evening.
