Police reveal how many times they were called to this Leeds McDonald's

Police have been called to a McDonald's restaurant in Leeds city centre almost 1,000 times in just three years.

Figures uncovered by LeedsLive show West Yorkshire Police officers were sent to the fast food restaurant in Briggate on 962 occasions, between 2016 and 2019.

Police say they dealt with a range of incidents, including ones involving anti-social behaviour, risks to public safety and alarms.

There have been high-profile incidents at the restaurant in recent months, including a brawl which left a man with a fractured jaw.

The highest number of police call outs (384) to the restaurant were recorded in 2018.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said that some of these incidents would not have happened inside that restaurant, but people would have mentioned it during 999 calls because it's a landmark that officers can find easily.

She added: “The safety and the security of our people and customers is our absolute priority.

"We continue to invest in CCTV and door staff as appropriate so that our restaurant remains a welcoming environment for all.

"We also work closely with the police, who have commended us for our work in helping find solutions to anti-social behaviour within the local area.”
