Police are currently guarding a house with a huge hole in the door after they forced their way inside.
Neighbours told the ECHO that officers arrived on Markfield Road, in Bootle, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The front door of the property was knocked through by police as loud banging and shouting was heard.
A large police presence is currently still at the scene where a mobile police station was set up outside.
One woman said: "There has been police guarding a house down my road since the early hours this morning.
"There is a massive hole in the front door of the house and there is also a mobile police station outside now."
Pictures taken at the scene showed the mobile police station parked on the road while a number of officers were seen in and around the house.
Another image shows where large hole were cut in the front door to allow police to gain access to the house.
It has not yet been confirmed by Merseyside Police what happened at the home but a spokesperson told the ECHO that an investigation was ongoing and more details would be available on Friday.
There is no risk to the wider community.
