Police guard scene overnight after assault in east Leeds

An assault in Leeds saw police seal off part of a main road overnight.

West Yorkshire Police remained at the scene for around eight hours after the assault near a main road in East End Park.

A number of roads were closed as officers began their investigations in the early hours of the morning.

The cordon covered a number of streets around the Best One store, just off Victoria Avenue, while Victoria Lane and Ivy Lane were also cordoned off through the early hours.

Cordons were in place overnight with officers stationed at three sides of the scene.

Police have now confirmed the nature of the incident.

A short statement from West Yorkshire Police read: "This was in relation to an assault – non-life threatening injuries."

A fuller appeal may be released in the coming days, police added.
