Police confirm missing man Lee Wheatley has been found safe and well

Police have found a missing 42-year-old man safe and well.

Lee Wheatley was reported missing on Thursday morning and he was last seen leaving an address in Washington between 8.20am and 8.40am.

He then got into a white Audi A5 with registration OY18 VNH and was recorded as travelling southbound on the A19 near Hangmans Lane, Sunderland, at about 9am.

Northumbria Police said they were growing increasingly concerned for Lee's welfare and appealed for help from the public to track him down.

On Thursday evening, a spokesperson for the force said: "Missing man Lee Wheatley has now been found safe and well.

"Many thanks for your assistance,"
