Police granted more time to quiz man after Scots mum found dead in house in Northern Ireland

Police have been given more time to quiz a man over the sudden death of a Scots mum in Northern Ireland.

Kerrie King, originally from Dundee, was pronounced dead by emergency crews after she was found at a home in Portadown.

Officers were called to the address in County Armagh in the early hours of Tuesday 9 February. It is understood the 33-year-old’s death is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives have been granted an extra 36 hours to question a 50-year-old man who was arrested and taken into custody.

A post mortem will take place to determine the cause of death.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gibson said: “We believe that the deceased was in the area of Carrickdale Gardens in the company of a male at around 5pm on Monday 8 February.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area from this time until the early hours of Tuesday morning or who has any other information.”

SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly said: “My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the woman who has tragically lost her life in the Tandragee Road area of Portadown.

"Police have arrested a man and I understand that they have established a line of inquiry.

“I want to put on record my thanks to the officers who are working with the family in these tragic circumstances.”
