Police give update on man seen 'lingering' outside school and nursery

Police have provided an update into their investigation of a man who was allegedly seen "acting suspiciously" outside of a primary school and nursery.

Officers received reports of concern after man was reportedly seen on a number of occasions outside of St Luke's School, on Cooks Road, Crosby, and Streatham House Nursery, Victoria Road.

The reports came in on January 21, at about 3.45pm as many children would have been leaving school.

The force said: "Officers have spoken with a man whose image was circulated online by members of the public in connection with this report.

"We can confirm this man is not the subject of a police investigation."

An image of a man near a school, which the ECHO is not sharing, was shared on social media and officers are also urging people not to post this image.

The force added: "We ask that people refrain from sharing such pictures of spreading rumours online.

"If you have any information, please contact @MerPolCC, 101 or @Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Speaking at the time of the reports, Detective Inspector Cat Walsh said: "I would like to reassure the local communities that we take reports such as this very seriously and a number of enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances."
