Police have said that there was no third party involvement after a woman's body was found in North Shields.

Emergency services were called to a flat in Trinity Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning after the woman was found to be unresponsive.

Police and paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was launched and officers have since found there was no third party involvement and a report will now be made for the coroner.

An earlier statement from Northumbria Police said: “At about 2.30am today police received a report from the ambulance service that a woman was unresponsive at an address on Trinity Street in North Shields.

"Officers attended but the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

Anyone with information who wants to contact police can do so by reporting online at the Northumbria Police website quoting log 93 of May 6.

Alternatively you can call 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
