Police give update on body of man found dead in McDonald's

More details have emerged about the death of a pensioner found dead in a McDonald's toilet.

Kensington McDonald's was evacuated last night (May 21) after the body of a man in his 70s was discovered in the restaurant's bathroom.

This morning police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious and the case has been passed to the coroner.

Emergency services were called to the restaurant on Beech Street at around 5.10pm on Tuesday to reports of the sudden death of a man.

Paramedics and police officers attended the restaurant but found the man unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

One customer told the  ECHO yesterday: "My husband was in collecting food when everybody was talking about it.

"The body was there at the time they were still waiting for emergency services to arrive.

"Staff were advising people away from the bathroom and to leave."

A McDonald’s Spokesperson told the ECHO last night:"Our restaurant team acted provided immediate first aid whilst awaiting the ambulance team.

"Our thoughts are with the individual’s loved ones and we are supporting the police with their enquiries and offering additional support to those employees involved today.”
