Police give update after man stabbed in the neck in horror attack

Police today gave an update on the man who screamed "I'm dying" after he was stabbed in the neck in a shocking daylight attack.

The horrific scene was witnessed by passersby, at around 1.30pm on Monday afternoon, in Poulton Road, Wirral.

The knife victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for his injuries.

Today police confirmed he remains in hospital in what they described as "a stable condition".

Witness Pat Miller, 67, who was shopping at the time, said the victim was lying in the street with blood coming out of his neck "and it was pouring down his arms."

He was then heard shouting "I’m dying, I’m dying".

Police arrested a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old male suspicion of Section 18 Wounding.

A spokesman said both suspects had been released on bail as they investigate the stabbing which shocked the local comnmunity.

Another local resident said there been trouble in the same area in recent months.

He said there had been shots fired at the window of a shop on the corner of the road on one occasion.

The attack caused shock in the local community - with children from a nearby primary school walking past the scene on their way home.
