Two "dumb" thieves were caught when officers followed their footprints in the snow - leading from a stolen car directly to their house.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police Dog Support Unit caught the pair on Thursday night, jokingly awarding them "tonight's dumbest criminal award".
A spokesperson added: "The cold must have numbed their brains!
"Tonight's dumbest criminal award goes to two of Leeds finest who abandon a stolen car and run off - only for officers to follow their footsteps in the snow to their house."
The tweet was accompanied with a picture of a police dogs vehicle in the middle of the heavy snow. Many people were left in stitches at the story.

The West Yorkshire Police Dog Section is based at Operations Headquarters at Wakefield.
The department has 32 members of staff broken down into training staff, operational dog handlers, kennel staff, and a small team that deal with dangerous and anti-social dog issues.
Deep snow fell across the country throughout Thursday night and into Friday.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice have been issued for a large part of the UK this weekend, amid fears of more stranded cars because of freezing conditions.
The Met Office has issued multiple warnings which cover most of the country today and tomorrow after Storm Larisa battered parts of the UK with gales and blizzards.
A yellow warning for snow and ice is in force across Scotland, the Northern Isles, and part of north-eastern England.
The warning also covers north-western and central England and is in force from 3pm today until 6am on Sunday.
The warning said snow showers would continue to affect the Northern Isles and the north of mainland Scotland through today.
