Police get on their bikes to tackle antisocial behaviour in Wishaw and Shotts

Police got on their bikes in a bid to crack down on antisocial behaviour in areas of Wishaw and Shotts.

Last Friday, local community officers were out and about in off-road biking patrolled areas that are unfortunately known for antisocial behaviour such as Shotts Heritage Centre, Carbarns and Cambusnethan Priory.

There have been several reports of unruly behaviour but officers are determined to keep on top of any trouble.

Inspector Alan Mulholland, from Wishaw Police Office, told Lanarkshire Live : “We have been linking in with the community board and other groups in Shotts regarding antisocial behaviour at the heritage centre.

“We have been coming up with a plan with Local Partnerships to address the issue.

"Part of this will be deploying officers on off-road motorcycles and off-road bikes and taking robust action.

“Police were also contacted by local elected members who had received complaints regarding incidents down at Carbarns.

“Again we will be using the bikes and off-road motorcycles and will be looking to address under-age drinking and drug taking.”
