Police get lead with reported sighting of bike belonging to murdered man Jarrad Lovison

A report of a bike matching the description of Mr Lovison's green mountain bike came in this week.

Detectives are now investigating whether murdered Newborough man Jarrad Lovison was involved in a car crash.

Police have been searching for Mr Lovison's bike and now say it was seen 20 kilometres from where he was killed.

Detective Sergeant Graham Hamilton from the Missing Persons Squad said a report of a bike matching the description of Mr Lovison's large, green mountain bike came in early this week.

"We received some information that a bike which fits the description of Jarrad Lovison's bike was located on April 18, 2020," he said.

Mr Lovison was last seen on April 15 this year in Newborough.

His body was found in the Moondarra State Forest on May 23.

On the same day as the sighting, April 18, police attended a crash in Tanjil South at 12:30pm.

Two hours later, the police's informant inspected the debris of the crash and saw Mr Lovison's bike sitting by a clump of trees.

Detective Sergeant Hamilton said the police attending did not see the bike when they were there.

At 4:30pm, the same informant saw a white wagon come to the site and collect the bike from the side of the road.

"He described it as a white wagon, they lifted the tailgate and basically the bicycle went missing from there," he said.

Detective Sergeant Hamilton said the bike is a key line of investigation into Mr Lovison's death.

"Jarrad was using his bike on the night, we believe that at the time he went missing, he was with the bike," he said.
