Police forced to get involved after 'anti-vaccine' leaflets distributed around Bury

Police have been forced to get involved after 'anti-vaccine literature' has been distributed in Greater Manchester.

A leaflet titled 'proof that face masks do more harm than good' and 'how many people are the vaccine killing?' has been sent out to residents across Prestwich, prompting local officers from Greater Manchester Police's Bury South neighbourhood team to issue a statement.

Officers have said that Bury Council is requesting the public to 'dismiss the message', instead encouraging the appropriate age groups to 'take up the offer of the vaccine'.

Social media users have slammed the leaflet (Greater Manchester Police)

In a Facebook post, Greater Manchester Police urged people to visit the NHS website if they had questions about the vaccine, saying: "Anti-vaccine literature has been distributed around the Prestwich area.

"The local authority has requested the public to dismiss the message being sent out and is encouraging all relevant age groups to take up the offer of a vaccine.

"If you have any questions about the Covid vaccine please visit the NHS website or consult with your local GP."

Comments from social media users slammed the leaflet, with one person saying: "Very sad some that some people will believe [the author]."
