"Officers are appealing for any motorists, of commercial or private vehicles, with dashcam footage of this area taken within the last ten days to contact 101 quoting incident number Y010830."

The road was closed off at around 3.30pm on Friday, and remained shut on Saturday morning.

Forensic officers, underwater search teams, and unformed officers were all dispatched to the scene of the incident, with a white tent being erected on the road while investigations were carried out.

Witnesses said that officers could be seen carrying out searches in fields near to the scene of the discovery.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and  Wales Ambulance Service were also dispatched to assist at the scene.

It is expected that the road will reopen on Saturday afternoon, but motorists have been advised to avoid the area while the incident continues to be dealt with.

Bus services have been diverted as a result of the closure.
