Police find two blades in underwear of man weilding a kitchen knife on petrol forecourt

Police who arrested a man brandishing a kitchen knife on a petrol forecourt found two more blades knives in his underwear.

Officers from the Rossendale Rural Task Force rushed to the Shell Garage on Haslingden Road last night, July 9, after they were alerted to a man on site threatening people with a knife.

When they arrived, they found a man waving around a seven and a half inch long kitchen knife on the forecourt.

Although they were able to apprehend the man and take him into custody, officers were surprised when they made it back to the station - after finding two other knives hidden in his underwear during a search.

A member of the force posted a picture of the knife taken off the man at the petrol station alongside some details of the arrest.

The post from the early hours of this morning read: "This evening your Rossendale Rural Task Force attended reports of a male acting in a threatening manner towards members of the public at the Shell Garage on Haslindgen Road in Rossendale armed with a knife.

"Officers were quickly on scene to find the man brandishing a large kitchen knife, as photographed, on the petrol forecourt.

"He has been arrested without incident and is currently in custody.

"During a search in custody two further knives were found in his underwear."
