A shopkeeper has been arrested after police found 30 stolen mobile phones in the store.

Police searched the Bury New Road phone shop after spotting a robbery suspect leaving.

He was arrested and a phone he was suspected of stealing was found hidden at the back of the shop wrapped in silver foil.

Police then carried out a search of the shop and found dozens of other suspected stolen phones and parts.

In total 800 items have been seized.

A post on the GMP City Centre Facebook page said: "Robbery team last week responded to reports of a robbery in the city centre and located the suspect of the robbery leaving a phone shop on Bury New Road.

"He was arrested and the shop was searched with the stolen phone found wrapped in tin foil hidden at the back of the shop.

"The shop keeper was arrested and over 800 items were seized.

"So far we have identified a further 30 stolen phones and phone parts and have many more to check."
