Police find man playing with remote control car in empty car park during lockdown

Despite the government's advice on social distancing and only leaving the house in certain circumstances, there are still some people who choose to flaunt the rules.

Officers in Wythenshawe reported seeing a man playing with a remote control car in an empty car park.

Posting a video on social media, officers called out the man for his 'irresponsible' behaviour.

"The fact that car parks are empty does not mean it is an opportunity to turn up with your remote controlled car," GMP Wythenshawe posted on social media.

"Saying 'it’s boring at home' is not the correct answer and this not an essential journey.

"Male was sent home."

Earlier this week, police officers in Derby dispersed a house gathering after it was discovered 25 people were attending a 'massive party with speakers and karaoke'.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister warned even stricter lockdown measures could be imposed in order to tackle the coronavirus outbreak after a study suggested social distancing could deliver a lower death toll.

“We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do," Mr Johnson says in a letter that will be sent to 30 million households from this week.

“But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.”

Members of the public have been urged to contact police to report anyone believed to have broken the strict rules in place during the coronavirus lockdown.
