Police find injured man after shotgun attack

A man suffered a leg wound after being shot in Skelmersdale.

Police were called to the Ennerdale area of the town last night following reports gunfire had been heard.

Emergency services found a man in his 20s at a nearby home with injuries thought to have been caused by shotgun pellets.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his wound is not thought to be life threatening.

An investigation is now underway following the shooting, reported to Lancashire Police at 9.30pm on Sunday.

The incident is latest episode of violence to hit the area of the town this summer. A man in his 50s was left with serious injuries after being attacked in Ennerdale in July.

“We will remain in the area speaking to people as part of our investigation and to offer reassurance to residents.
