Police find haul of stolen valuables as two men arrested

Police have seized valuables which have been reported stolen from a property in Liverpool.

Officers, who were alerted to a number of burglaries, carried out a search at a home on Harkbridge Drive, in Edge Hill, on Tuesday, May 10. At the scene, they found laptops which were reported stolen on Nicander Road and Cumberland Avenue.

Other items which are suspected stolen include a wallet and a Macbook. As a result two men were arrested.

Two men from Liverpool, aged 22 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. A zombie knife was also found at the address and the 26-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. Both men have been taken into custody for questioning by police.

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: "Officers acted promptly to secure arrests following reports of these burglaries, and we continue to appeal to any witnesses who have any further information that could assist our ongoing enquiries. We launched a dedicated operation, Operation Castle, in 2018 to reinforce our commitment to tackling burglaries in the region which has led to year-on-year reductions in burglaries across Merseyside, sparing many residents the pain of being subjected to this invasive crime.

"As part of our efforts to bring offenders to justice and prevent further burglaries, offenders have been jailed for more than 500 years in total, and our pursuit of those who violate the privacy of people’s homes in this callous way will continue. Furthermore, thanks to the actions of our officers, a dangerous weapon was recovered which can no longer be used to cause fear and harm in our communities.

"Our officers are determined to keep communities safe and will take all necessary steps to make sure those suspected of carrying dangerous weapons are put before the courts." Anyone with information on criminal activity in their community can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or come forward anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
