Police find 'gun' in Leeds street as two men rushed to hospital

Officers from West Yorkshire Police have confirmed a handgun has been found in the street during a Leeds incident which saw two men rushed to hospital.

Police were called to Pepper Lane in Hunslet at 11.05am on Friday (June 16) following reports of a disturbance and further reports that a weapon had been found. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that three men aged in their thirties and forties had suffered injuries.

Two were taken to hospital and all three were later arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. A suspect handgun was also recovered from the scene but it is not thought to have been fired during the incident.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 11:05am today, police received reports of a disturbance in the street in Pepper Lane, Hunslet, with further reports of a handgun having been found. Officers attended and found three men, aged in their thirties and forties, with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

"Two were taken for hospital treatment. All three have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

"A suspect handgun was located at the scene and has been recovered for examination. There is nothing to suggest any firearm discharge during the incident.

"A scene remains in place in Pepper Lane and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
