Police find gun hidden under bush in house raid

Police have found a gun hidden down the side of a home during a warrant.

Merseyside Police arrived at a home on Hebden Road, Croxteth at around 7.10pm on Tuesday, December 6. A team of officers raided the home as part of a warrant, where they found a sawn-off shotgun and a number of cartridges at the side of the home.

Pictures from police appear to show the gun was being kept in a plastic bag underneath a bush. The items were forensically recovered and made safe, and detectives are now investigating.

Detective Inspector John Mullen from the Firearms Investigation Team said: “This firearm was stashed with ammunition and could have been easily accessed and used to cause serious harm in our communities.

“It is vital that such weapons are identified and removed from the streets. Our forensic enquiries continue and I would ask that if you have any information about who stored, held or used this or any weapon, come forward immediately and we will take action.”
