Police find body in search for teenager James Macadam who disappeared after New Year's Eve party

A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager from Lancashire.

James Macadam had been missing since attending a New Year's Eve party in Lancaster.

The 19-year-old had got out of a taxi in Morecambe at 6am the following day, but did not make it home, Lancs Live reports.

Officers searching for James discovered a body on land near Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe just after 12pm today (Saturday, January 2).

Formal identification of the body has not take place yet, but James' family have been informed.

Morecambe Area Police said: "Police searching for missing teenager James Macadam, 19, have sadly found a body. James has been missing since New Year’s Day.

"Officers found the body on land near Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe shortly after midday today (Saturday, January 2nd). Formal identification has not yet taken place.

"James’ family have been informed of the development and are being supported at this time. Our thoughts are with them."

Police thanked those in the community who have been helping look for James.
