Police find body in Leeds river in search for missing 21-year-old Finley Jones

Police have found a body in the search for a missing 21-year-old who disappeared in Leeds city centre over a week ago.

Dive teams have been searching the River Aire after Finley Jones went missing on Saturday, July 4, in Leeds city centre.

He has not been seen or heard from since prompting a missing persons appeal and today, West Yorkshire Police have sadly confirmed that a body has been recovered from the river in Stourton.

Formal identification is yet to take place but police believe the body is that of Mr Jones.

A spokesman for police said: "Police searching the River Aire in Leeds have recovered a body that is believed to be a missing man.


"Shortly after 11am today (July 13) officers found the body in the water in the vicinity of Skelton Grange Road, Stourton.

"While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Finley Jones, aged 21, who was reported missing from an address in Leeds city centre on Saturday, July 4.

"His family have been informed and the Coroner’s Office has been notified. There are no suspicious circumstances."
