Police find body during search for bushwalker bitten by snake

Police have found a body believed to be that of a man who was missing in Perth's south east with a suspected snake bite.

Nathan Scattini, 41, was bushwalking in the Kelmscott area on Sunday when he called for an ambulance, saying he had been bitten by a snake.

He did not know his location and emergency services were unable to find him or make further contact.

A large-scale search was launched which included dozens of police officers, SES volunteers and the police airwing.

The body was found in bush near Mustang Road in Champion Lakes shortly after 6:00pm on Tuesday.

In a statement, Inspector Dean Snashall of WA Police said the search for Mr Scattini had been cancelled and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Inspector Snashall said the circumstances of the death were not yet known.
