Police find body after major search along River Trent

A body has been recovered after a police search was carried out at the River Trent.

It comes after a person was seen entering the river at West Bridgford last night at around 9:15pm, Saturday November 6.

A search was carried out and a body was recovered this morning, Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed.

Water and land searches were carried out in the Welbeck Road area of West Bridgford, with a police helicopter and a specialist drone team also at the scene.

Emergency service workers were seen searching the River Trent in Nottinghamshire on Saturday evening, November 6.

The searched continued this morning, Sunday November 7, where an underwater and specialist search unit van, two fire engines and police cars were seen at the scene.

In a Tweet, a spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "Police are investigating after a body was found in the River Trent.

" It comes after a person was seen entering the river at West Bridgford last night. A search was carried out and a body was sadly recovered this morning.

"Officers are working to establish the circumstances."

Inspector John Lees, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Officers are on the scene and working to establish the circumstances.“A post-mortem examination and formal identification will be carried out in due course and a file prepared for the coroner.”
