Police find baseball bat and knuckle duster in car after stopping men ignoring lockdown rules

Police found a baseball bat, knuckle duster and cash inside a car after officers pulled the driver over for ignoring lockdown rules.

The vehicle was initially stopped in Hulme and the two men inside - who do not live together - were given advise and told to return to their homes in Burnage.

However the two men were spotted by the same officers 15 minutes later still in the same area.

Having ignored advice, the men were detained after walking away from their vehicle.

Officers searched the car and found a baseball bat, knuckle duster and a large quantity of cash.

One of the men was cautioned for being in possession of an offensive weapon.

The incident was reported by officers on the GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme & Burnage page, who said it happened a ‘short time ago’.

“Thanks to our neighbourhood colleagues on the other side for this great job,” officers added.

These men are not the only ones to have been caught by police flouncing the lockdown rules on the road.

Earlier this week, the Bedfordshire, Cambridgshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit stopped a man after making a 400 mile round trip from Rochdale to Essex in order to buy a new car.
