Police explain what you can do this weekend depending on your tier

Police have set out what people in Bristol and Somerset area are allowed to do this weekend, as the tier systems bite.

It will be the first weekend under the new Covid-19 tiered system of regulations, with the area split between tier two and tier three restrictions.

England had been under a second national lockdown until December 2, when the new tiered system came in.

Avon and Somerset Police have reminded the public of the regulations ahead of the weekend to ensure people are abiding by the rules.

The police took to social media to push the messages out to people, putting two different graphics showing the difference between tier two and tier three restrictions on their Twitter account.

The force, found on Twitter @ASPolice, posted: “If you’re heading out over the weekend, please take a look at the guidance for your local area and the area you’re visiting."

They also shared two useful infographics, reproduced below, that explain what rules are in place where.

Somerset along with Bath and North East Somerset are in tier two restrictions.

Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire are under tier three restrictions.

One major difference between the restrictions will be the closure of several businesses, including hospitality and indoor entertainment venues, in tier three that are open in tier two.

“Our officers and staff are doing all they can to keep you safe. You can help them by continuing to follow the regulations,” the police spokesperson.
