Police explain reason behind huge police presence in Sherwood

Police have explained why nine police cars were seen on a Sherwood street late at night.

The huge police presence was seen by residents on Perry Road at around 10.30pm on Thursday, March 25.

One eyewitness said they saw officers with sniffer dogs arrive at Perry Road while another car blocked the road to motorists.

Police have told Nottinghamshire Live they were called to a report of a possible break-in at an address on the road which was empty.

However, after searching the scene, no suspects were found and no arrests were made.

Police Sergeant Bruce Clarke said: “Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to Perry Road in Sherwood at around 10.40pm on 25 March 2021 following a report of a possible break in.

“Officers were swiftly on the scene and found the house to be empty and no suspects around the area were found following an extensive search.

"Three people in the area were talked to, but as no burglary had taken place, no other action was taken.

“If anyone has any information regarding the reported incident please call 101, quoting incident number 943 of 25 March 2021.”
