Bulgarian customs officials said they have seized 191 kilograms of heroin found in a Turkey-registered truck in its way to the European Union.
Customs Chief Georgi Kostov said the shipment arrived at the border on Wednesday, and managed to pass a check with an X-ray machine without being detected, but heroin was later discovered by specially trained dogs.
Kostov said the illegal shipment, which reportedly worth six million euro, was hidden under tile adhesive cans and physiotherapy equipment.
The truck was intercepted at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkey, on its way to Belgium and the Netherlands.
The heroin, distributed over 95 containers, was the largest drug confiscation operation on the Bulgarian border in a year.
