Police Dog Yula brings Christmas Eve thief to heel

A canine cop from Mersey Police Dogs thwarted a would-be thief's plan to ruin someone's Christmas.

PD Yula sprung into action to tackle the light-fingered offender on Christmas Eve.

In a Twitter post in the early hours of Christmas Day, Mersey Police Dogs said: "Twas the night before Xmas & as much as we'd like to say not a creature was stirring, PD Yula unfortunately had to respond to a thief who was out to ruin someone's Xmas. You'll be thrilled to hear that PD Yula is no mouse & the only person who's Xmas has been ruined is the thief!"

A police dog's training methods include basic training, communication, rewards, training tricks, collars and harnesses, teething, exclusive training, guarding animals or houses, service and so on.

But first all police dogs must become experts at basic obedience training. They must obey the commands of their handler without hesitation. This is what keeps the inherent aggression of the dog in check, and allows the officer to control how much force the dog is using against a suspect.
