Police dog tracks down man over three miles after 'disqualified driver fled police'

A police dog tracked down a suspect over three miles after reports of a disqualified driver fleeing from police in East Lothian.

The driver made off from police near Macmerry on Tuesday, prompting officers to call in police dog Tora.

The two-year-old Alsatian, who has tracked down several suspects earlier this year, was used to locate the driver.

Sniffing out a trail over three miles, the driver and a car were found near Longniddry.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Police Scotland's East Lothian division said: "PD Tora was asked to assist local officers during the evening of Tuesday 25th June following reports of a disqualified driver having made off from police near to Macmerry.

"Tora tracked the male for approximately 3 miles, locating him and the vehicle near to Longniddry."
