Police dog tracks down Bristol man who stole parcels from doorstep 26 miles away

A Bristol man was arrested when a police dog tracked him down to a country lane in a village in Wiltshire.

The man, who has not been named by police, was being hunted after a number of parcels delivered to a home in the village of Kington St Michael, near Chippenham, suddenly disappeared.

The resident of a house in the North Wiltshire village called the police at around 10.30am on Thursday, and gave them a description of a suspect and told them which way he'd been heading.

Officers attended the scene and a Police Dog called Fozzy tracked a man down to a lane nearby.

"An iPad, two phones and parcels were also found in his possession which he could not account for," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire police.

"The man in his 30s, from Bristol, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of theft.

"He has been taken to custody in Melksham for further questioning," she added, in a statement issued on Thursday evening.

"Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 53 of April 2," she said.
