Police dog Molly who helped crack more than 2,000 drug cases dies

Tributes are pouring in for retired police dog Molly who helped put hundreds of criminals behind bars.

The black Labrador worked with the North Wales Police and Cheshire Constabulary for 11 years, assisting with more than 2,000 arrests over her career.

Molly spent her retirement from the beat relaxing with her handler and family. She died on Tuesday, aged 14.

In an emotional post on Facebook, the Cheshire and North Wales Police described their “great sadness” at the passing of their former colleague.

“Molly was a phenomenal drugs dog and served 11, exceptional years accounting for over 2,000 arrests some of which were of very high, street value narcotics!

“She spent her retirement with her handler & family who will miss her greatly.

"Run free over the rainbow with your K9 pals Molly, your duty is done.”

The post has since received more than a thousand likes and 131 comments.

“So sorry to hear of the Loss of Retired PD Molly. May she Leave Paw Prints on All of your Hearts,” one grieving fan wrote.

“Aaw Molly, so successful in your work but such a lovely dog. RIP,” wrote another.

“Spent many a happy shift with Molly..RIP old girl.”
