A Greater Manchester police dog helped catch a wanted man who had been on the run for more than two years.
PD Kyp was called in to track an offender spotted carrying a chainsaw after being reported to have fled from the scene of a crash in Hindley on Saturday.
Using scent work skills, Kyp managed to track the offender down and found him collapsed in a nearby woodland.
It turns out he'd been a wanted man for more than two years but was finally caught thanks to the heroic police dog.
Praising his work, a tweet by Greater Manchester Police Tactical Dog Unit read: “PD Kyp pulled out a blinder yesterday.
“A male made off from a high speed crash in the Hindley area.
“Offender made off carrying a chainsaw- PD KYP located the male collapsed in woodland.
“Offender had been wanted for over two years and was arrested for multiple offences.”
Many were quick to praise heroic police dogs and the work of his colleagues on Twitter, with one person from the area tweeting: "Well done Kyp and in my home area too, feel better knowing you're about."
And it's been a successful month for this working dog, as it was only a few weeks ago where he helped to detain two males burgling a church.
Great work PD Kyp!
