Police Dog Annie detains man who threatened officers with weapons

Police Dog Annie cornered an aggressive male who had assaulted a family member and was threatening officers with violence and weapons, police said this (Wednesday) morning.

The incident was recounted in a 2.45am post on the Mersey Police Dogs Twitter account @MerPolDogs

It read: "Overnight a male assaulted a family member and on police arrival was threatening officers with violence and weapons. He didn't fancy his chances with PD Annie however, who swiftly detained the aggressive male, keeping all of her human colleagues safe. Good girl!"

In response to the tweet, PD Annie received messages from a number of congratulatory posters, who were big admirers of her night's work.

Among them, Omi said: "Great Job, PD Annie."

Sharon Lewington added: "A massive well done Annie, fantastic."

Brian Wake, meanwhile, enthused: "Well done PD Annie."

But the best of the lot came from HarriJES, who tweeted: "You go PD Annie," whilst also posting a GIF of a dog sat on a sofa with one paw on a bag of cheese puffs and another on the TV remote control.
