Merseyside Police have praised the efforts of a police dog who tackled an assault suspect.
Officers said a woman was subjected to a "serious and sustained" assault by the suspect, who made off from the scene.

Police dog Annie was first to arrive at the scene, officers said, and located the suspect.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday night, Merseyside Police said: "A quick flash of Annie’s pearly whites convinced the offender to ‘behave’."
The suspect was arrested and has since been charged, police said.
