Police dog Annie was first to arrive at the scene, officers said, and located the suspect.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday night, Merseyside Police said: "A quick flash of Annie’s pearly whites convinced the offender to ‘behave’."

The suspect was arrested and has since been charged, police said.
