Police could be seen dispersing crowds at Cardiff Bay on Saturday as temperatures rose to their highest levels so far this year.
The promenade looked more like a summer day than late February as sun-seekers flocked to the waterside amid the 12C weather.
Meanwhile, crowds of people could be seen gathering on the steps of the Roald Dahl Plass, despite Alert Level 4 coronavirus restrictions remaining in place.
Current rules state that people must stay at home, except for very limited purposes.
With infection rates at their lowest levels since September, the rules were eased slightly from February 20 to allow as many as four people from two different homes to meet for socially-distanced, local exercise.
But First Minister Mark Drakeford has stressed the change "does not mean you can now drive somewhere to exercise and it does not mean socialising."
South Wales Police said they have issued a number of fixed penalty notices this weekend, as they patrolled the region to ensure coronavirus rules were followed.
The force also said random vehicle checks were being carried out in Swansea, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan in order to "ascertain the reason for travel".
Chief Superintendent Andy Valentine said: "The vast majority of people are continuing to do the right thing and are making sacrifices to protect themselves, their loved ones and the NHS. We cannot afford to undo all the progress that has been made to date.
“Flagrant breaches cannot be tolerated and we will continue to respond to concerns from our communities, carry out proactive patrols and work closely with our local authority partners on the Joint Enforcement Teams to ensure those who blatantly or repeatedly breach the rules are met with enforcement action."
On Saturday, Public Health Wales confirmed sixteen more people had died with coronavirus in Wales. Meanwhile, 198 new positive cases were identified, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 203,378.
