Police discover suspected meth lab in Chimney Pot Park, Salford

A man has been arrested after police uncovered a suspected meth lab in Salford.

Police found items associated with the production of methamphetamine at an address on Field Street, in the Chimney Pot Park area of Salford.

The items were recovered by officers at 6.20am on Friday morning (December 13).

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Officers and firefighters are still at the scene recovering more items.

A source told the MEN large quantities of chemicals, which usually require experts to abstract, were found.

This morning residents said there was a forensic tent in place in the street and a large number of police vehicles.

The authorities have assured there is no threat to local residents and no road closures are in place.

A statement released by Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after 6.20am this morning, Friday, December 13, 2019 police attended a property on Field Street, Salford and found a number of items which are suspected to be used in the production of methamphetamine.

"Officers remain at the scene working with the fire service to recover the items.

"A man aged 34 has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

"He remains in custody for questioning."

A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed firefighters were assisting police with safety checks.
