Police discover 'non-human remains' in bin after being called to residential street

Police have found non-human remains in a bin after they were called to a street in Salford.

Officers descended on Castleway in Swinton last night (November 13) after reports of possible human remains being found.

A large cordon was erected on the residential street, with a forensic tent seen within the police tape.

Local residents described seeing a major police presence in the area shortly after 6.15pm on Saturday night.

Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that the contents found were "not human."

Pictures from the scene show a stretch of police tape, with several houses and a yellow tent inside.

The scene is understood to have been in place for around an hour before officers left the area.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We were called at around 6.15pm on Saturday 13 November to a report of possible human remains found in a bin on Castleway, Swinton.

"Officers responded and enquiries later established the contents were not human."
