Police discover 'large' cannabis farm at former village pub after residents reported strong smell

Police seized a "large cannabis cultivation" during an early morning raid on a former Caldercruix pub at the weekend.

Officers were alerted to the cannabis farm at the empty Clansman Inn, on the village's Dunbreck Avenue, after locals reported the strong smell created by the class B drug.

They attended the scene at around 1am on Saturday and forensic officers in white boiler suits could be seen combing through the site.

One local told Lanarkshire Live the smell of cannabis could be smelt around the village.

Our source added: "Police raided the empty Clansman pub in Caldercruix this morning [Saturday], where a cannabis farm was established inside.

"The stench of it can be smelt all around the village."

Cops are continuing to investigate their findings, with a Police Scotland spokesman telling Lanarkshire Live "enquiries are ongoing".

Anyone with information relating to the discovery can contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, where anonymity is guaranteed, on 0800 555 111.
