Police discover cannabis farm worth £145,000 in early morning raid at Northumberland home

Police have uncovered a cannabis farm worth an estimated £145,000 after raiding a Northumberland home.

Officers executed a warrant at an address on Station Road, Ashington, on Thursday morning and found hundreds of cannabis plants inside.

A police presence has been visible on the street throughout the day with a specialist search team deployed as investigations continue at the scene.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed a total of 524 plants have been discovered, worth approximately £145,000.

Officers are now dismantling the cannabis farm and have seized the drugs at the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with the operation but police say inquiries are ongoing.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a cannabis farm was discovered inside a property on Station Road, Ashington earlier today.

"The cannabis farm is in the process of being dismantled and destroyed and enquiries into those responsible for the farm are ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers online at our website, or by calling 101, and quoting log NP-20210915-0485."
