Police discover body of young woman at flat in Castlefield

A young woman has been found dead at a flat in Castlefield .

Officers were called to an apartment block at St George's Island on Hulme Hall Road on Monday (24 February) to reports of a concern for welfare.

Emergency services attended and found the body of a woman, thought to be in her 20s.

Police have confirmed they are not treating the woman's death as suspicious.

A file will be passed to the coroner and an inquest is expected to take place at a later date.

Police were called to St George's Island in Castlefield on Monday night (ASP)

Residents described seeing several police vehicles outside the apartment block at around 7.30pm on Monday night.

Forensic teams and plain clothes officers were seen going in and out of a flat.

A police van was pictured guarding the area throughout the evening.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called shortly before 5.30pm on Monday 24 February 2020 to reports of a concern for welfare of a woman found at a property on Hulme Hall Road, Manchester.

"Emergency services arrived and sadly found the body of a woman believed to be in her 20s.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

"A file will be passed to the coroner."
