Police detain four in Manchester city centre after robberies - they were found with this huge knife

Police seized this huge knife as part of an investigation into robberies in Manchester city centre.

The lethal-looking weapon was confiscated from a group of four men detained over the weekend.

It was discovered as part of a police operation into armed robberies across the city.

Six men and a woman were arrested after a spate of violent robberies in October as part of the same operation.

GMP City Centre, sharing a photograph of the knife on Twitter, said: "Op valiant officers have had a very busy last 7 days.

"Arrest and remand of 6males and 1 female after a spate of violent robberies on halloween.

"Extreme trick or treating! Then over the weekend a group of four males were detained following several robberies and found with this!"

Operation Valiant, launched in February 2018, is aimed at tackling personal robberies across the region.

Officers work by disrupting suspected offenders, working with Manchester City Council to apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders.
