Police descend on Nottingham park to disperse crowds of people

Police officers have descended on the Arboretum in Nottingham to disperse crowds of people who were gathering amid the sunshine.

A large number of people were seen sitting in the popular open space off Waverley Street on the afternoon of Saturday, February 27.

Music could be heard and people were seen gathering in groups before Nottinghamshire Police officers attended just before 5pm to disperse some of the crowds.

Rubbish has also been left strewn across the open grassland, according to our reporter at the scene.

Sarah Young and Rachel Hickman, both final year architecture students at Nottingham Trent University, who were walking in the park, told Nottinghamshire Live: "This is exactly why we have to go through lockdowns over and over again, because of people like this who gather together."

Some people are left in the Arboretum but the crowds have since died down following police intervention.
