Police descend on illegal lockdown party as '40 guests' heard laughing while fleeing flat

This is the moment police broke up a lockdown party at a block of flats in Greater Manchester.

Witnesses described seeing around 20 police officers force entry to an apartment block in Derby Street, Cheetham Hill at around 3am on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed its officers attended the address after reports of a party breaching coronavirus restrictions.

Initial reports suggest that at least 40 people may have attended the event.

One person was issued with a fine and enquiries are ongoing, police said.

Video footage from the scene caught party goers fleeing from the back entrance, as police officers can be heard gaining access to the property.

Guests could be heard shouting and laughing as they ran from the scene.

Around a dozen police cars and vans were pictured parked outside the premises as officers responded to the incident.

An ambulance could also be seen parked up on the street, but it is not clear if anybody was injured.

Pictures show a group of girls wearing party attire stood huddled on the street together.

Another man could be seen surrounded by several police officers.
