Two teenagers have been arrested for drugs offences after police searched for a firearm in Tameside.
Officers were sent out to Dukinfield at 9.15am today (May 20) after a man was reportedly seen 'with a gun' while in a vehicle on Park Road.
The car was stopped on King Street, near to The Commercial pub at the crossroads with Ashley Street.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence in the area, including a helicopter.
Greater Manchester Police has arrested a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a class B drug, but no firearm was recovered.
The pair are currently in police custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact GMP.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 9.15am today (Thursday, May 20) to a report of a male in possession of a suspected firearm in a vehicle on Park Road, Dukinfield.
“Officers were swiftly deployed and the vehicle was stopped on King Street, Dukinfield.
“Two males, aged 15 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug. They remain in custody for questioning.
“No firearm was recovered.”
