Police have taped off the front of a Bury primary school following reports of a man in the area with a gun.
Officers were called to Bury Catholic Preparatory School, on Manchester Road, at around 2.35pm today (Tuesday, November 2).
It follows a call reporting sightings of 'a male with a potential firearm' near the school.

Police say the man left the scene and no gun is believed to have been fired.
Officers are still searching for the man in question.
No injuries were reported but a section of the school remained taped off into the evening.
In a statement, a spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called around 2.35pm on Tuesday 2 November to a school on Manchester Road, Bury to a report of a male with a potential firearm.
"Officers were swiftly deployed and enquiries are ongoing to locate the male who left the scene.
"No firearm is believed to have been discharged and thankfully no injuries have been reported.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
Bury Catholic Preparatory School teaches children from nursery age up to Year 6.
Warning residents about the incident, Bury councillor Tamoor Tariq tweeted: "The police have received reports of a man with a firearm around Manchester Road.
"Hence police presence outside Bury Catholic Prep School & Holy Cross College. Please be alert and report anything that you may deem to be suspicious."
