Emergency services have been called to a West Australian prison after inmates damaged a cell block.
Police, firefighters and the WA Department of Justice special operations group have been deployed to the Serko-run facility in Wooroloo on Monday.
"Staff at the privately-run Acacia Prison are responding to a disturbance confined to one block at the correctional facility," a WA Corrective Services spokesman said.
"A number of prisoners refused to comply with the instructions of staff this afternoon and have caused damage."
The department said emergency services had been deployed as a precaution.
"The prisoners (involved in the disturbance) are confined within the block and pose no threat to the wider community," the spokesman said.
